Steampunk lives! Jane shot some video of the steam engines on the Mark Twain Riverboat. The boiler is driven by diesel fuel. The engines are lovingly maintained by Disney mechanics.
One of the two steam pistons at work driving the big stern wheel. The Mark Twain Riverboat is a 5/8 scale model of a classic Mississippi River sternwheeler.
Video of the port side steam engine at work on the Mark Twain Riverboat. Unlike an internal combustion engine, the steam pushes the piston in both directions, so it has two power strokes, with exhaust on the opposite side of the piston.
This one is fun! Huffs and puffs from the steam exhaust of the two driving engines. The engines are out of phase by 90 degrees so one is always pushing.
Looking down at the stern wheel driving the boat. The huffing sound comes from the steam exhaust just behind the camera.
